What are the best olive oils in the world?

One more year, the prestigious Evooleum Guide has presented the 100 best Oils of Extra Virgin Olives of the world of 2023, chosen by 26 experts collectors internationally from Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Portugal, Israel, Argentina, Japan, France and the US.

Since the prestigious publication was launched seven years ago, this It is the first year that said ranking has been topped, equally, two oils: Spanish oil Corner of the Subbética Altitude and the italian Monini Monocultivar Coratina Bio. The limited edition Cordovan oil is not the only Spanish oil that is in the top 10. Parcheolive Gold Series PDO Priego de Córdoba, Gate of the Villas Picual Special Edition and King's Fountain, added to three other Italians, a Croatian and a Brazilian, have slipped into the top positions. 

Spain, the largest oil producer in the world, is once again the undisputed leader of this famous guide monopolizing more than half of it, 63 oils of the 100 best in the world are Spanish. The list is headed by the Rincón de la Subbética Altitude oil from Córdoba, of the hojiblanca variety, which has obtained 97 points out of 100 in the tasting. Produced by Oil mills of the Subbética it's a ecological with a very intense green fruity with a multitude of nuances that show its great complexity. On the palate it has a sweet entrance, green and spicy almonds of medium intensity.

The best picual oil in the world is also Spanish. Gate of the Villas Special Edition wins the prize for best picual with his early picual and is the only oil from Jaén in the top 10 of the list. 

The producers of the best oil in the world -Almazaras de la Subbética- also win the prize for second best Spanish oil with their picuda and hojiblanca variety oil Parqueoliva Gold Series.

 

Where is the best olive oil in the world from?

Rincón de la Subbética Altitude olive oil, produced by Oil mills of the Subbética, has its origin in the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park and has the Priego de Córdoba Protected Designation of Origin. A region that rises to the southeast of the province of Córdoba, bordering the provinces of Jaén and Granada, and inside the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park.
